I guess understand why some people find today annoying. But I like it. Why wouldn't I want to see my old friends and meet some new people. Plus, I've never had anyone show up from home, which is...sorta good, sorta not.

[Curt shrugs. He holds up a gnarled stick.]

Anyway, at the risk of sounding morbid or metaphysical, I'm looking for Death-with-a-capital-D, who should recognize this branch came from and of course I'm hoping to see the one who gave it to me the last time we had one of these things. So I'll be sitting on the steps of building 10 if anyone wants to say hi.

For a while I wondered if my sitar player was a ninja, but that was silly of me. I mean, except for that one time when he was during a curse.

To fight evil. [That sounds too simplistic, so:] Battle strategies and weapons tactics and stuff. ['And stuff' is precedents presented in comic books and film and in-depth looks into the pros and cons of different battle costumes, but he won't say that.

Instead he'll pretend to scratch at his nose to cover up how his cheeks are flushing. That grin could kill, it's not even fair.]

Yeah, sure, but curses don't count and ninjas wouldn't play sitars. They'd play... y'know, air guitar. Something quiet.

Yeah, were releasing an album in a few weeks. It's sorta hard to keep a thing like that going in the City, but were managing so far.

Why only girls? That sounds suspicious, if not a bad deal.

It's sort of a... mystical birthright type thing that only happens to girls. They're called Slayers. A boy Slayer would be really awesome, though.

Ooh, I'm flattered.

And it's not like I know him personally! Um, I mean, well, not- you know, not the anthropomorphic personification of him, anyway. I've just seen him around a lot while we go do our own things on these weekends. He's got some good taste in music, though, based on what he was singing a couple of visits ago!

Hell of a living. A vampire almost ate my bass player recently so I'm all in favor of that kind of mission, although in that case it was just because of a curse and that chick is normally human or whatever.

[Curt settles back against the steps and lights a cigarette. As much as he enjoys having this kind of power over people, he's not planning on using it for anything this time, so maybe he should back off and let Awkward Andrew make an exit soon if he wants.]

Well, that depends on who you ask, yeah? Though everyone agrees that I'm probably crazy. But I am actually a pretty big deal back home.
