Summary; Rain or shine--or total lack of shine--the album release party is going forward.
Log;Curt probably could have managed to throw a larger party, but he didn't really want one, and the half of the bar they've rented out is filling up fast enough as it is. He's gone for his shiny silver pants tonight, because it is a celebration, and a romantically flowing white shirt because that covers up the bandages on his arms. Tonight is a night for many people to get very drunk and listen to the album many times. If there's some use and abuse of newly acquired superpowers along the way, so be it. (It is secretly Curt's birthday too.)

[Yes. Clearly the right pants. He notices Stephen's hand, but tries to pretend like that's not out of the ordinary at all. He looks around the room.]

Today is a good day.

[totallyinaband]

Yeah, man. Album and everything. Feels good.

[thewildone]

Yeah. I feel like...everything's kinda going better than expected.

[totallyinaband]

[You noticed that, huh? Things going well is a bit odd for him, too...]

Why, what were you expecting?

[thewildone]

Well, in the bigger picture sense I definitely wasn't expecting to end up here.

[He waves his hand around indicating the City in general.]

And then I guess I spent a lot of time here thinking I wouldn't be around long enough to accomplish anything. After a while though...I realized here I had a chance to do things a little differently. Not change, exactly, but just kind of escape some of the baggage of being me.

[Stephen takes a moment to think about that. He gets that. It's true he also spent months just waiting to get sent home again. Yeah, he had the band, but it just felt like a stop-gap. Something to do to fill the time. But now... well Time Bomb is going better than Sex Bob-Om ever did. He's made up with Neil in a way he'd probably have never got the chance to back home. And well... back home he's still desperately camping out in the back of his closet, whereas here... instead of saying all that, though, he just hooks his fingers a little tighter into Curt's belt loop and smiles at him.]

That's good, man. I'm happy for you.

Also, it's my birthday. I mean, my actual age is kind of different with time stuff so it kind of isn't. But it isn't. I don't want everyone to know, but I guess I still kind of wanted a party, though.

[totallyinaband]

You should have told me. I didn't get you anything.

[thewildone]

I don't want anything. It'll just remind me that I'm thirty, officially.

[He kind of rolls his eyes at himself for being bothered by that.]

[totallyinaband]

[Stephen still has a finger hooked into Curt's belt loop, so it's too easy to just pull him closer and kiss him. He pulls back after a moment.]

Happy Birthday.

And at the very least, I'm not letting you pay for any drink tonight.

[Curt leans into the kiss and then settles back against the bar, smiling.]

Thanks.

And I won't argue that.

Good. I'd hate to have to argue with the birthday boy.

[thewildone]

You better not. But really, everyone should be buying us drinks. It's our celebration and all.

[totallyinaband]

We need richer friends, clearly.

[thewildone]

Clearly. Hey, do you want to see me blow something up?

[totallyinaband]

As long as it's not me or anything I'm wearing.

[thewildone]

I won't blow you up, I'm fond of you.

[Curt things for a moment.]

Maybe a peanut. Peanuts burn nicely.

[totallyinaband]

Thanks, man. Glad to know you care.

[Stephen takes another swig of bear and leans back to enjoy the show.]

[Curt places peanut on the bar and holds his fingers to his temples in a needlessly dramatic fashion. A moment later the peanut bursts with a small flash and a popping noise, the remains burning for a moment longer.]

Ta da!

[totallyinaband]

[Dramatic slow-motion clapping. You has it now.]

[thewildone]

I am Curt, destroyer of legumes.

[Curt casually pulls out a pocket knife--from his shoe, there's not exactly room for pockets in these pants--and turns away a little to make a small slice across his palm.]

[totallyinaband]

[Stephen practically chokes again. His hand whips out without even meaning it to and grabs a firm hold on Curt's wrist.]

Dude, what are you doing?

[thewildone]

[Curt attempts to twist away.]

Hold on, there has to be blood. Not a lot, I mean, it wasn't a very large peanut.

[totallyinaband]

[So not letting go right now.]

It's making you i>cut yourself? Jesus Christ, Curt.

[He grabs a wad of napkins and presses them into his palm.]

[thewildone]

It's not a big deal. Keeps me from blowing up too much stuff.

[Curt sounds annoyed, but does keep still.]

Will you let me go so I can put a band-aid on?
